Goleta Valley Athletic Club and the American Bouldering Series are bringing a Bouldering Competition to Santa Barbara! This will be the first competition here in over a decade. The comp called Masters of Plastic IV was last here in 1992 when bouldering competitions were still a rare event. Now we are back with lots of exciting additions. The comp site is an outdoor brand new bouldering wall in Santa Barbara. We'll have a barbeque and music. You can win cash prizes as well as donated gear from our sponsors: Prana, Metolius Mountain Products, Teva, Stone Age Climbing, Santa Barbara Outfitters, CMC Rescue, Real Cheap Sports, Sickle, Up Time, and Blenders in the Grass. Think about competing or just hang out in Santa Barbara for the day on Saturday May 31st. Registration is at 11 am. Start time will be around 12 noon. All levels of climbing ability are welcome! Admission is $25 for competitors, $20 if you are an ABS/GVAC member or a student. Registration includes t-shirt. See you there! Spread the word. The last day of May. For more information, please contact Doniel Drazin at Doniel@GVAC.net. See GVAC.net for information about Goleta Valley Athletic Club. GVAC address: 170 Los Carneros Way, Santa Barbara, CA. From Pt. South: Take 101 North, Exit Los Carneros Road. Take your first left at Calle Koral and your immediate right is Los Carneros Way. Club is on left.

In reply to: My buddy Chris mentioned it to me. I hope I'm able to attend, sounds like a great event! And tell them about Bob Bank's NEW Santa Barbara bouldering guide, perhaps one of the best bouldering guides ever published. Mick www.rockfax.com

Rumor has it Mr. Banks will be on hand at the competiton. You might win one as a prize and you can even get it signed. Bob loves this kind of attention, so hit him up.

Rumor has it, along with guidebook author Bob Banks, The Bird is going to make an apearance in SB this weekend. Check it out at Goleta Valley Athletic Club on Sat. It's open format so should be just as much fun whether you come in first or last. Lots of prizes, plus they have a jacuzzi and beer!

Just doing some more PR for my friend's comp. Anyone that needs some gear should sign-up and there is loads of schwag and not too many sign-ups. GVAC's number is 805 968-1023
