I would suggest getting a good nights sleep and just plan on having fun. Find out the rules of the comp when you first arrive and then you can just focus on climbing. It was a little weird the first time I went to a comp, but they are definitely a lot of fun.

I've only done a couple comps. The first one I had no idea what comps were about and had no strategies. Sure, you want to have fun. But you also want to do the best you possibly can, right? I would suggest doing some easy warmup routes. Then when the comp begins do a few easier routes to get into it, but before you get too pumped, try the hardest route you think you can send. If you don't get it in 2-3 tries, move on to something else. When you feel yourself getting tired, get in all the easy routes to score as many points as possible. Just my .02 ~Shelley
