At what point does a woodie become a gym? I posted some photos of my "home woodie", and another user suggested it was a "gym". I had always considered a "woodie" to be such because of: 1. the material, and, 2. when it was an amateur set-up vs. a commercial venture. I never considered the difference to be scale. Also, if I (being an Architect) build it, can it be considered an amateur set-up? After all, I may be long on imagination, but I am a down right hazard when operating power tools! Also consider that I have not been climbing too long (again, amateur). Definitions and opinions?

It doesn't freaking matter. It has holds. You climb on it. Gym or otherwise, it's irrelevant.

As stated befor what does it really matter. It is not like there is a brightline standard on what is a "woodie" and what is a gym. If there really had to be a some standard on the difference, in my oppion it would be size; but then again what size would be considered a gym or not a gym. I have seen some small "gyms" in my short days. Just my thoughts. Waugy

Once you start to charge admission, host "group climbing parties", and install a Gatorade machine, it then becomes a gym :)

I don't know where the line is. I've climbed on some pretty sweet home-gym/woody-whatever. Yours is probably the nicest I;ve seen. Good job. I'd call it a home gym, to tell you the truth. Any idea of climbing square footage?

If you charge to climb on it, its a gym. If you don't, it's a home wall. If it prevents you from properly zipping your pants, its a woody.
