Ok boys and girls, its time to round out my home gym with a crack machine. I have done a little research at tradgirl.com, looked through the best rec.climbing has to offer, but a quick search of these forums turned up very little. What does rc.com have to say about building an indoor crack?

My specific circumstances: my wall so far consists of a 16' wide 45 degree overhang going out just over 11 feet. Should I just tack the crack machine on to the side of this at 45 degrees? Should the crack be totally seperate from my wall? Straight up and down?
