You have some options:

There is a wall in Thamel, not huge but it's pretty tall and looked nice. It's outdoors, but covered. I didn't climb there, just walked by and checked it out. I wish I could give you better directions, but I know it's near the Northeast corner of Thamel. I could be wrong but I think it's run by the Nepali Mountaineering Something-or-others.. Maybe ask around about that one, lots of folks speak English there.

Haven't been to this one, but I heard it is pretty nice. This is an outdoor wall:

This next one is a tiny little gym in Patan, which is just South of Kathmandu, a 300 rupee or so cab ride.. I've been there a few times, the family is lovely, they live above it in an open air apartment, they have a cute little 5 year old who will ask you for money, and they sell chalk bags with fake North Face labels sewed on (and one that had a Polo Ralph Lauren label. I had to buy that one!). The gym itself is not great by any means, you'll have to make up your own routes, but it's worth one trip--they have a nice entreprises hang board at least! Try calling the number to get better directions, the guy speaks great english and is in his early 20s.

[I don't know about this "bar," that wasn't there when I was around last summer]

You could also try contacting "Hardcore Nepal." They are a new adventure guiding company, and they do rock climbing trips to the Nagarjun forest preserve, north of KTM. It's a kind of slippery, decent single pitch crag with about 15 sport routes.

If you ever meet up with Ramesh tell him Kirby sends his best wishes, and hope that his company is doing well.

Have a blast! Nepali people are kind, welcoming, and generous, just be prepared to be offered cab rides/rickshaws/singing bowls/jewelry/marijuana/... constantly.
