When a route in my gym says English on the rating what does that mean?

It means only people who speak english are allowed to climb it...

I always thought that you had to have passed English in h.s. Thanks for the correct info. Since I speak English reasonably well this will allow me to expand my gym climbing range considerably... :roll:

if there's just one called English, then i'd guess that its the name of the route, otherwise go ask somebody in your gym!

It may mean that the route has been graded using the British Technical grading system. Though it seems strange that they would use this system for one route only.
