What do you guys like about your local climbing gyms (when outdoor climbing isn't available to you because of weather or reasons like that) as far as what the facilities have to offer, services, classes/clinics, distribution of routes, lead or bouldering walls, special events, etc.... ?

I like the bouldering walls and caves in our gyms. I haven't done roof climbs outdoors yet so it's fun to do them. I also like the fact they have a training area. The people there are great!

when the weather's bad or i don't want to drive too far I usually go to Gravity.... good variation of routes and good route setters (i.e. work in things like heel hooks and other fun little moves).... i can take anyone from any skill level and we can all climb. bouldering is always key at a gym.... (game of add-on anyone? very social and devious game). a good variation of climbs that can be lead is also good..... i'm sure there's more... i also like climbs that are separate from each other. Gravity doesn't tape a bunch of holds all the way up the wall rather tapes off sections that are different climbs so you don't have to follow tape just stay inside it....

I'm not a big fan of roping up in a gym. Bouldering just seems more natural and is more conducive to training than roping up.

Well at my local gym, there is 3 different styles of bouldering caves (45 degree, changing overhangs and roof), a roof section across the whole thing (its 20m+ never asked), friendly people, pretty constantly changing roots, campus board, weights room, slab, chimney, "nature climb" (just for crack practice... its pretty poor) and a few overhang climbs... Its good, and since im only 15 i usually go there coz i almost never get a chance to go outdoors.

I can tell you what is missing from my gym. When they moved to a bigger location they didn't put up a campus board or hit strips. I really miss the pure training areas they used to have.
