I was wondering if it is worth building my own home gym.

yes, if you want to spend lots of money for wood and at least $300 for holds like i did. Dont build it if you dont have an unfinished room or outside. Weigh the pros with the cons. Is there a gym close to home? or some boulders? It would probably be cheaper to get involved at your gym and set your own problems and routes there, like i did. now, if there isnt a gym nearby, and you have some space to work with, then im all for it. The main thing is money. Spend it if you want

Honestly if you are thinking about doing it you should.
The advantages are great... especially if you are short on time and have other priorities in your life (kids, sigificant other, etc).
There are disadvantages, mostly it is motivation, finding partners, etc.
I am into my wall for about $1200 and that includes lots of holds and bondo'ed features

I think it is a good way to stay strong in the "off season" if you have one, and practice stumper moves you find out at the crag.

DO IT!! :D

only if you make it quite large. if you plan on a smaller wall, dont bother. youll end up bored and without money. its better to spen it on equipment and gym membership.

but if you have space and time to build something serious (at least something like 3x4m) with lots of holds (or at leas t-nuts), than go for it. nothing is better than a cool home gym. im getting one. soon.
