Hey I am pretty new (2 months climbing) to this sport. I am interested in a couple of climbing gyms here in Illinois (North Wall in Crystal Lake, YMCA Des Plaines, Evanston Athletic). Does anybody here go to those gyms, have any tips about good gyms in IL, etc??? thank you so much!

I would suggest going to somewhere like Indoor Summits, as the attitude and routes are going to be higher quality than you will find at North Wall and so forth. The other places you mentioned, Lattof and EAC, you will pay an arm & leg to get into. Plus they dont have open hours all the time. Go to www.indoorsummits.com or check out www.verticalreality.net they are just a little ways past Summits. Possibly a bit longer drive, but your time and energy will be well spent. I have personally climbed as a member at just about all the gyms in Chicago and surrounding areas and the two above mentioned are a good time. Or I just remembered about Climb On in Homewood.
