I'm thinking about building a home wall, but the most convenient place to put it is in the basement. The ceiling there is only 7' or less. Obviously anything close to vertical would be pointless. So...

Do you have a wall in a low ceiling space?

What angle or configuration do you use?

Is it really worthwhile?

(My office has 12' ceiling... If I can just convince my partner... )

i think you have plenty of room, you'll just need to build it at a fairly steep angle. but the benefit of that will be improved stength. i think it really just depends on what you want. i built a wal not too long ago and just used resources from here. if you do a search some older posts have some really helpful links about angles to build the wall and other helpful info.

You could do a vertical section and an overhung section. Or, an angled section and an overhung section.

Just mix it up man. Sounds like you got enough space.

How much room do you have? My wall is inside of a storage shed. The ceiling is 7 1/2 feet tall. The main feature is 8 feet wide with a angle about 38 degrees past verticle(angle due to poor carpentry skills). The climbing surface is about 8'3" high. With a 45 degree angle you should be able to get 10 to 11 feet. Get some graph paper and a protractor, then draw a scale diagram. If the angle appears too steep, remember that you can start with big holds, then go progressivly smaller.

My basement wall only has a ceiling height of 7' 9". I have sections from verticle to 30 deg overhang. I even have a roof sections. Not much for climbing up, but great for traversing.
