Anyone have any experience making plastic holds? I'm in the process of adding a home wall and am thinking about making some. I have seen a few different methods but would like some other opinions as to tricks and tips.

If you just need holds ask the employees at a climbing wall if there are any broken holds they could give you, If you manage to aquire some holds a dremel tool will shape the rough edge's off.

I saw the cranc site and it was pretty good, still looking for other opinions though. As for the local gym, I used to work there but had a falling out with the owner and am now persona non grata there. Don't think I can get any surf stuff either. If I don't find any better info then I'll try the Cranc method and let you know how it works. Probably won't be for a month or so yet.

Ever concider using real rock? With a drill and some glue I think you could make some pretty good holds. (drill hole in rock, add glue, insert threaded rod, attach to plywood) [ This Message was edited by: kagunkie on 2001-07-18 09:12 ]

Yeah, a friend has alot of those on his wall. I want to try to make small technical slopey holds that are tendon and skin friendly. I think plastic is the best medium for this. Plus I wouldn't mind making a little extra cash around here by selling holds to some locals with home wall. Hell, I'd suck resin fumes all day rather than get a 'real' job.

If you've been searching like I have than you've probably come across this page: http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/9640/ It gives some interesting ideas for making holds.
