Hey all, Not that anyone cares, but I sent my first 5.11 today. Yes, this was in a gym, which probably downgrades it to a 5.3, but so what? I'm pleased, I've been working on it for a while, and have very few people to share this with. Take 'er easy. Luke

Congrats, Luke. That's awesome. I onsighted a 5.9+ today. Onsight is probably not even the right word. It was top rope in the gym, but I'd never seen anyone on it before. Granted, it's no 11, but it made me happy.

Awesome job Luke! A 5.11 is a 5.11 is a 5.11. Don't let anyone talk you into otherwise. ;) Personally, I've always found gym routes to be harder than at the crag, but the fact that the gym I go to have pretty worn out holds might have something to do with it.

Hey, Thanks for the support; to a certain individual, I'm glad that you and the frog in your pocket don't care, but do care enough to respond. Oh, and by the way, "You're," not "Your." You've been climbing since '82 and don't know highschool English? Take care. Luke

Maybe it's in a gym but it if it's rated 5.11 it does not equate to 5.3. That means it is definetely way harder than any 5.3 in the world. Go outside and climb some 5.3 you'll laugh your ass off.

Gym climbing is OFTEN, if not ALWAYS more difficult than outdoor climbing. Don't let anyone tell you that it counts less to lead a climb indoors than outdoors. Hey, you'd probably be leading 5.12-5.13 outdoors. Those outdoor sissies can't hang.

go to Seneca WV and climb gunsite to south peak 5.3 and I doubt you will be laughing unless it is with joy and amazement that you are haveing so much fun on a 5.3, as for me not careing if you climb 5.11 or 5.15 or whatever that is just a fact and you can take it anyway you want. If you had an amazeing experience climbing a 5.3 or 11 or 14d or whatever and you told us a good story about it that would be interesting. Just announceing the fact that you did it is freaking boreing and pointless.
