darien.liew wrote: Hi, Is it cheaper to rent gear or provide your own. Thank You. Man... It's cheaper to rent your gear than provide your own if you're only climbing once. It's cheaper to provide your gear than rent if you're climbing at least N times, where N equals the price of the gear you buy divided by the cost of the gear you rent. This will also become more expensive depending on how expensive your taste is, or cheaper depending how thrifty it is. Best bet (on a serious note) is to rent or borrow your gear the first three times you go. You'll know by then how into climbing you're going to be (add an extra visit w/ rentals for every ten minutes in travel away from your gym you live/work).
