Hey climbers! I'm looking into the cost and advice on converting one my university's (too many) racquetball courts into a bouldering gym. I found a post here from 2005, but hoping to find updated links. One of the unique things about our courts is that they are two stories tall for upper level viewing- aka great for climbing walls!
Basically, I want to have some numbers (cost, time, materials, equipment, etc) that it would take to start this thing so I can give them some solid info when I pitch the idea.

You might want to try reaching out to the folks at Dartmouth College. Their climbing gym started as a single racquetball court and then expanded to the one next door.
The Dartmouth Mountaineering club is the student climbing club, but eventually you'll probably want to talk to the Dartmouth Outdoor Programs office - that's the wing of the administration that is responsible for (among other things) the climbing gym.

Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS also has a racketball court that was converted into a climbing area. Not sure who to contact about it though.

Either Eldo or RockWerx can give you good info about cost.
You didn't indicate where you are. If you have a decent size climbing community, or the potential for it, then you should consider taking two courts. A single court is pretty tight, IMHO. Two courts would let you have a nice wall and good bouldering space.
You can also see a nice conversion (though it involved a considerable remodel at the same time) at Oklahoma State Univ. That wall was done by Eldo.

The Rock Club in New Rochelle has a raquetball court conversion that they use as a training center (belay lessons etc) and party-climbing room or small room for very young climbers. If you are in the area, stop in there. http://www.climbrockclub.com
