I am an A.B.S participant in all comp's in my area. I got lucky, and attended The Spot's tour de front comp a few weekends ago in Boulder CO, but other than that; my last comp was at Ibex in Blue Springs MO, which is where I do most of my indoor climbing / competitions :) I don't remember the date's / times, if your still curious check www.rockcomps.com

Can you let me know why you compete? would it be worth it to make an ass out of myself? What level should you climb before you enter?

i don't really climb in abs expecting to win. my main thing is to show some of my techniques while observing others, and maybe taking some constructive criticism. also there's usually a huge turn out, and getting to know the local climbing community is a must. don't get me wrong i'd be psyched if i won, but there's always someone out there better.

I go for the raffles but maybe that's just me. That and non-local comps give me good ideas for route setting at home. But mostly its free prizes. When to Fort Collins on Halloween for a competition (it was that or get blotto with cheap beer on a cold Laramie night, so why not?) and took 4th in intermediate. Got hit in the head with a low flying REI bottle too I might add...
