I'm 14 years old and can boulder v2. I'm thinking of entering in a comp at my gym. Am I ready for it or will I get blown away?

Well, typically they have different divisions for climbers, like a recreational division, intermediate, and then open (read "expert"). Your comp most likely has something like this. Join the level that you think will best suit your ability. But if it doesn't, just do your best. Even if your do v10 odds are some v11 guy will show, so don't worry too much about it. Even if you end up dead last comps can be great fun. Good luck!

Yeah, don't worry about getting blown away, just have fun with it. If nothing else I can bet you'll learn something, which will only make you better for your next comp, and so forth down the line. Just have fun with it and with hanging around other climbers

There are usually different skill levels in competitions. If not just go and have fun.

You'll probably get blown away, but do it for the fun of it.

It all depends on how it's run. Some comps work on age group, others on difficulty. I am 16 and the last comp I was in had a 19 and under age group. This made it hard for me, everyone in my age group that was good was 19. One kid in my age group on-sighted the hardest route, and I think got the hardest boulder problem. I got either 5th or 6th, I don't remeber. If the comp has like 13 and under, 14 and 15 you may do good, heck, maybe no one else in your age group will show up! I say go for it and have fun if that's what you want to do. I don't typically like comps, but after the last comp I went to I am starting to enjoy them. Other comps have difficulty like beginner, advanced and so on. I normally sign up in whatever I feel is appropriate and if I do better, or the competition isn't very strong I'll get bumped into the next catagory.
