Haven't heard of anyone doing it before; I would have to say just look at a real hangboard and try to replicate it with the materials and woodworking skills you have. Sounds like a nice orginal idea. Let me know how it turns out. (I'm all about making shjit myself to save money...)

I made a small hangboard last year using a 1x12x28 board. I drilled and t-nutted it in a 3" by 3" grid pattern. Using a bunch of holds from my now defunct garage woodie  I could arrange and replace the grips as I saw fit. I've quit using it because I don't have doubles of any particular hold and don't really want to spend more money on system holds right now. I'm currently working on another hangboard using pieces from my scrapwood bin. It's going to have removable strips made from dowels, 1x1 and 2x4s. I'll shape the 1x1 and 2x4s using my Dremel kit. I'll post pics when finished.

i ahve seen a few good ones. it shouldnt be too hard to make if you have the right tools (like a good saw and drill).

Nice job edge, it almost looks more like abstract art then a hangboard.

I wrote directions on how to make the wooden hangboard for the article section. You can check it out, along with additional pictures, at: http://www.rockclimbing.com/articles/view.php?ID=247 And climbobsessoin, if you look at the pictures in my profile, you will see that the wall in the background is my home wall in my workshop. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=20607 http://www.rockclimbing.com/cgi-bin/photos/jump.cgi?Detailed=20607
