I'm going to add a roof to my basement wall. Would the 2x6's in my basement celing be enough to hang off of or do i need to put in extra bracing for when i screw in the top panel?

haha, if they hold up your house, id say theyd hold an extra 250 pounds. i took the beams in my basement, bolted and glued 2X4s to them perpendicular to make a frame, and then bolted my wall to that.

You'll be fine. Just make sure you use long thick shanked screws, washers on the wood side and predrill through the ply-wood. If you dont you risk seperating the layers and dramatically reducing the stregnth. the purposeof the washers is to give more surface contact and reduce the chance of pulling a screw. My.02

2x6 floor joist construction, something is funny there, usually floor joists are 2x10 or may'be if the house is old i.e older than 30 years 2x8. anyhow your completly set screwing to those, the washers are an interesting idea but not needed, just screw every 8-10 inches with 3" deck screws hopefully this help p.s. i'm a fully liscenced journeyman commercial carpenter of 10 years

Use washers! I just built my wall a few months ago, and I forgot to use washers on one panel. That panel has already started to pull out. I have to rescrew the whole panel now. Use Washers!!! Alex

Thank you!I had a experience with the screws pulling out and thought you could learn form my mistakes. Metal round head screws when used with wahsers make it look cleaner too.
