I didn't take them, just came across them at the webpage link under the last pic. Quite a few encounters though, summers in the Adirondacks. Big ol' bears. They're everywhere. Never saw one do that, though.

It seems that I read an article in backpacker back in the early 90's that bears were known to have climbed 5.9's and to have jumped off ledges in order to snag food on lines. Anyone remember the article?
