Your link seems to be dead. There are lots of ways of rigging without carabiners at all, but there are always trade offs with any hardware substitution.

I can't get the link either. The biners will really help keep your line flat. Using knots kind of twist the line a little bit. o you just want to save some cash or do you have any issues with using biners?

Nevermind, I just saw a video on youtube on how to do the whole thing with one stretch of webbing and only 4 biners.

It's quite easy to set up a line with just webbing and only 2 biners, I couldn't see your link, but I think slacklining.com shows the cheapman's slackline setup where you only need 2.
