I tried slacklining for the first time seriously yesterday. Today I set up my own line in my backyard and I spent the afternoon trying to get the hang of it. It's hard, but I have made improvements. Anyone got any advice for a new slackliner.

The one I set up was only about 20 ft. I thougt I had more webbing, but I didn't. I only got up to 5 steps, but it's better than yesterday. I'm going to have to practice more.

Dang!!! Bummer dude! Hope you had some decent insurance. I tore the meniscus in a knee when I pressed up on a slackline a couple of years back. It was a minor surgry but still totalled over 4 grand in bills between the doctor, hospital and all. Take the hint and stick to climbing. It's a LOT safer. Hope you heal quick.

In reply to: What were you landing on? Concrete? Broken leg in four places!! Yikes P. well it was just dirt but i hit my toes/ankle on the edge of my crash pad causing the twist making 2 spiral fractures on the fibula and a break strait across on the tibia along with the bottom part of the tibia cracking off and needing to get put back on with screws and wires. A VERY BAD LANDING! and mike i will never learn, and it is starting to feel better but there taking me off the pain meds wich kinda stinks. hope everyone else is out having fun climbing and slacking because i know im envious! - Scott

Thats quite insane. Ironic that the pad meant to save you from injury actually ended up causing the injury. Thats why i slack over concrete...no dangerous crash pads to land on. J/k. Get well!!
