Slacking without trees?

Many slackline videos I have seen show people with an A frame setup on beaches. How would you go about making anchors in the sand though? I ask because i would like to do a similar setup on grass. I realize that possibly you cannot get the proper tension for a line without having a substantial anchor point.

Get a 3-4 foot long stick of iron with some kind of ring that you can attach your biner to on top. Punch it in the ground on two sides, put your A-frames up an have fun.
(Have not tried it myself, but i figure it will work).

Best to try it before recommending it. No that won't work in typical soil, especially not in sand.

Typical yards require 3 equalized stakes up to 36" long to hold. Harder dirt may require only 24" stakes, but sand will require buried anchors (as mentioned on the link listed above) or other more involved systems such as pallets with tubs of water. From experience, buried anchors are easiest on beaches as few other options hold for long.

I use augers when I rig up on the beach. 1 on each side.

Neat - what size of augers were required and for how big of a line? I haven't had any that were big/long enough to work in sand.

I'll second the shipping palate with "brute" garbage cans full of sand or H2O for beach-ish conditions.

For the big stake game, I will caution to cover em with something if they aren't already blunt (think orange covers for rebar work) I nearly had a bad experience landing on one of em prior to covering em.
