Hey slackers- I've set up a hip high 60 footer with a 5:1. I'm pulling it super tight but it still hits the ground and then it snaps hard. What's the deal? Are my anchors too far apart? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

What height are your anchor points? Expect somewhere between 6 inches to a foot of drop per 10 feet of main line distance. Are you talking 5:1 with pulleys or 5:1 using carabiners in place? You may need something with more mechanical advantage or re-evaluate your setup to re-rig for something more efficent.

Anchors are about 3 feet high. I'm getting the 5:1 with carabiners. I could pull it tighter but then it snaps so hard and it seems like other lines aren't nearly as tight. Good info on the drop...I'd have to reduce my anchors by 30' to make it work based on 6"-12" of drop per 10 feet of mainline. Thanks

A 60 foot main line would usually be around shoulder high. Just for throwing it in, but learning is usually best on a 20 to 30 foot line.

three foot high anchors sound pretty low. i wouldn't go shoulder height, but more than three feet.

My 110' line is 45" high in the center, my 43' line is 29" high in the center. I guess I'm stringing them pretty tight?? (they don't seem that tight). Also trying to protect an old foot injury.

I set my line about thigh high for a 45' line. I wiegh about 190 and that gives me about 6" clearance at the middle while walking on it, which isn't quite enough for doing any thing but walking.

Height of anchors is directly related to personal preferences for tension. You can have a huge range between what will feel good for one person vs another. Thats why I mentioned 6 inch to a foot of drop being relatively normal. I like mine medium to tight, but for my weight (190 lbs) it's too tight for many of my friends leaving them 2 feet off the ground. For a 60 footer I'll set it so have a foot of clearance in the middle and my anchors are around shoulder to chest high. I save most of my tricks for closer to the anchors.
