I just picked up slacklinning about a month ago. Being a skate/surf/snowboarder, I naturally just started standing sideways. Then, I was out in J-Tree over Thanksgiving and everybody was going toes first and tripping on my style. I'm picking up the trad. style now, but I feel way more solid sideways. Anybody else use this style?

I've seen impressive walking/tricks from both stances. Your way will progress into your style.

Even though slacklining has been around for a while... it hasn't seen much exposure. It's a relatively new activity, who knows where the next generation will take it.

Cheer, Ammon

I’m with Ammon…man the more you can pull off sideways, the more power to you.

I've walked sideways with a crossover step, and I think this is great practice for rockclimbing if you keep it on the balls of your feet.

I've done some pretty fun swinging sideways as well. But be careful not to fall over backwards.

If you go for a jumping mount from the ground, landing sideways is the only way.

Lastly there is something really cool about balancing totally sideways while looking off into the distance perpendicular to the line. It's one of those esoteric moves.

P.S. - If you see Chango Chuck out at J.T. tell him I said hi.

-Take the trucks off your skateboard
mount
-get someone to help you stay in balance.
-Put the deck down as if you were doing a 50/50.
-Get the person to let go of you.
-See how long you can stay on (hard!)

Old Skool decks with no concave are the easyist!

trick possibiltys here would be limitless.

thanks bro's. I can do the jump mount, a rail grab, stale fish style, crossover steps, and move very quickly back and forth with a bounce rythm. I'm getting dialed trad style, too. I'm hoping to get on a highline if there is going to be one in Josh over New Years, or if I run into Shawn.
