Alright, I have a grassy field in my backyard with no trees or other obvious anchor points; I don't want to attach the line to the patio because I pretty sure it'll pull the piece of crap down. What are your genius ways of building an anchor in a field with grass. i was thinking about pounding a couple pieces of rebar into the grass on either end, equalizing those, and running the line over saw horses. How long would the spikes have to be? Is there a better way Thanks Evan

The best way I've seen for a situation like that is building A-frames. There's probably instructions somewhere on this site, but if not, then just search Google-search for methods of setting them up, there's a bunch of em. One example: http://www.slacklineexpress.com/notrees.htm. That should get you started on some ideas.

Try this... (I think photo is clickable??)
The line is about 130' long, about 42" high. I purchased 2 large scrap stumps (about 38" high by about 32" in diameter) from a local saw mill. Behind the stumps is a buried concrete anchor (two 80 lb bags, 3/8" chain in concrete with rebar threaded through the chain, bell bottom shaped hole). The top of the concrete is 5 inches below grade so chain can be buried if the anchor is abandoned (which it has been since this photo was taken, new anchors are being used as the line is now lengthened to 190'). The stumps make great starting and ending points, and I like the asthetics of this rig better than A-frames.
