Hi RockClimbing dudes! Recently i posted a thread asking for good places to sport climb in California, i think Malibu Creek is a good option and now im thinking to go there (August 28, 29 and 30) so, i have a couple questions... 1. How can i get there? 2. Do i need a 4x4 vehicle or i can get there in a normal car? 3. Any other advises? Thks!

Interstate 101 West of 405, exit Las Virginas Hwy (south), approx. 5 miles on the left. $5 parking. Follow the trail of trash to the Planet Of The Apes Wall. FROM SAN DIEGO:Take California Interstate 5 to the 405. Head north on the 405. Take that till the 10. Take the 10 west till you hit PCH (1) When you reach Pepperdine University (Malibu Canyon Road), turn right. Continue on this street till you see the Park on your left. ($5)Park in the second lot back and take the trail to a beat up bridge. After that bridge, take a Right at the BIG fork in the road...taking a left will lead to a dead end. continue on that trail till you reach the visitors center bridge. After that bridge take a left and continue to planet of the apes. The park cleaned up all the trash, so DO NOT RELY ON TRASH TO FIND YOUR CRAG! http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=104347722655552877066.00044356c5392daee718c&ll=34.099741,-118.721459&spn=0.014996,0.026951&t=k&z=16 You don't need 4x4. Most of the sport routes start at mid 10s, if you want to TR look for the Planet of the Apes wall (big formation on your right as you hike from across the bridge). Enjoy!

type in malibu creek in google and look it up on the map for directions to get there, its easy. From the 101 or the 1 get on las virgenes, the park is right where las virgines meets mulholland drive. No 4x4 necessary. Get a guide book so you know where to find the good climbs.

Parking is more like $8 I think the southern California sport climbing guide has a lot for the area and other areas Sport climbing the Santa Monica's has more though. Check out the stumbling blocks for some good fun sport. It is just past the rock pool you have to do a 5.4 traverse over the water. For some really hard sport go to the Ghetto Wall just beyond the stumbling blocks up stream. There are also some good climbs in the century lake area. Don't Worry about needing a 4x4 it is paved to the parking area then you need to hike in about a mile. but there is a good amount of shade bring lots of water and some shorts to swim if you want to cool off.
