This might need to be in the trad forum, but I had a question about this crag. Is it all ground up, or can you walk off? Also, is it climbable in Dec? The route info on rc is slim, though it did say winter. I'm not sure how much snow Truckee can get, after all isn't that the fateful resting place of the Donner Party?? Anyway, I'm going to be in Reno Dec 18 for the holidays. Thought I'd check out the local climbing. Any info is appreciated,

You can walk off in some parts, but it's really sketchy. It's gonna be cold in the canyon. Be forewarned. If there is snow it's going to be a coooold day. That said, you can climb there on a winter day and not be too cold. There are a few trad lines and a few sport lines there. I have tended to bring a small rack and a set of draws. The anchors are all good; so just lower off.

With that said, you may want to go the other direction and find Pig Rock. It is better suited for winter climbing.
Good luck either way!
