I have a couple of old cams that could do with replacement slings. Is there any good reason why I can't just cut the old slings off and replace them with a short loop of 8mm dynamic cord tied with a double fishermans? or is better a simple webbing with a water knot?

I read somewhere that you can tie webbing with double fishermans and it will be basically permanent once bounced on. Im sure you could actually tie your own and maybe even double it up like the newer Dragon Cams. I am thinking I would really like to do that the more that I think about it. My BD cams never seem to have a long enough sling. NOW, that being said, DONT DO IT until some other people with experience in this idea confirm that it would be ok.

I used to have a full set of Camalots set up that way. It's a good way to go IMO. See pic:

*: Yates will resling any brand; BD will only do their own cams.

Thanks for the info. At first after reading this, I thought "ok, well I guess they tried everything. However after taking it in for the day, I have to wonder why they had to stick with that thumb loop design. Surely they could have added an additional piece to the end of the thumb loop that could have increased the diameter and kept the loop from disfigurement. I mean, the extendable sling means that you can shave some weight without additional draws/slings. Right now, that is why the DMM Dragon Cams look so damn tempting. I think I could come up with a piece myself by just using some flexible tubing from Lowes/Home Depot. The problem would be testing such additions. I dont want to ruin my gear trying, or put it to the test with my weight.
