Darrr mateys. I'm gonna be TRAD climbing in some overcrowded suburb called tuolumne. (gesundheit) Between searching for booty, going on long alpine raids, and craggin with me mates and me wench, I'll need to camp. Hopefully for free, I am a fucking pirate ye know. I am curious if anybody has done the dirtbag thing recently, and whether or not this douchebags advice will still apply right at the end o' august? I'm mainly curious about the sleeping in the car options near saddlebag lake, cathedral peak parking lot, etc? http://www.rockclimbing.com/...uest=39925963#380058 Are there other low-profile low-impact places for me to sleep in my car, I mean fucking pirate ship, that have worked for people in recent weeks? I'm a dirtbag-pirate, but I'd like to keep it a responsibly low-impact-low-profile-booty-hunting-alpine-assault-on-the-mainframe-here. Arr. And, just so I don't have to bother to say it later: shut up Majid, you're not scary. Arr.

Ahhh my specialty. You can get into the park free pretty much anytime after 8pm sometime earlier Nope probably cant get away with sleeping in your car in tuolomne though...rangers like their flashlights dontcha know..so what? just grab your bag and walk a hundred feet into the woods and your golden generally. Hell I usually crash in el-cap meadow and as long as i'm up by 630 i've never had a problem even there.

I wish I knew more about Toulumne so that I could respond with info about where to drop anchor, which 5 star climbs were rated Rand other pirate related climbing information. Anyway, well played, sir, originality is appreciated.

Yarr, ya be tinkin I'm bout to divulge my hard earned docking erudition to the likes of some constipated chinese bear on his passing by with ye boat load of shleps and wenches. Ye must have been gaffed in the brain boy. The Valley provides whilst Tuolumne deprives. Be but an apparition, or plundered will your spoils be. Least ye remember that in your journeys.

Recently, I have only done it in the spring before the pass opens all the way through. However, in years past I have camped there throughout the summer.

Arr, good on you mate. In addition to the pirate camping there be legit boondock camping in the NF, jess need to know where she be. Now along the 120, I don't know. But jess sout o dere, and nort of the June lake loop, dere be a couple o dirt roads off de 395. Head up em a bit, and you be full on legit boondocking. Coarse that may be a bit far for you, but if the old NP ranger be gett'n wise to you in the meadows, it may be a place to bail to. I be headed to the old meadows meself next week. If you see a Big Blue Sub, wit a canoe and yak on top, and 3 munchkins in tow, dat be me. Shout out ahoy. :D

Make a left turn on the first dirt road after the Mobil as you head up 120. I think it's legal, in any case no one will mess you with you back on those dirt roads. There are a couple other (small) car bivies on your way up the pass, but the often are pretty crowdd. The rangers are out in force in Tuolumne this summer, people have been getting tickets left and right for open containers, speeding, bivying illegally in cars or in the forest, improper food storage. Saw some folks getting fully searched (their whole car torn up) after getting caught with some illegal substances in Tuolumne last weekend. Get a wilderness permit if you're planning to sleep out by Cathedral or Matthes or plan to pay off a ticket.
