Access to Skaha Bluffs remains a hot topic for this season. As you all know, the purchase of Sublot (SL) 18 was a success; however; that was only the first phase of the access issue. The following remains to be resolved: Legal access across a right of way to SL 18 - TLC is negotiating with the land owner and we are anxioulsy awaiting an outcome; Legal access may not be in place for the Easter long weekend; The road to SL 18 will be upgraded (under construction) this year with a parking lot developed simultaneoulsy - slated for completion in October or November; Should legal access be granted, everyone can expect to have to walk from, most likely, the end of Smythe road. The trail is likely to be flagged Access through the North end remains across private property; and Braesyde farms, the traditional access, remains closed. It is probably best for all to consider other climbing venues for the Easter weekend

According to Skaha updates:
In reply to: March 13, 2008 Hugh Dunlop has once again come to our aid and agreed to open the Braesyde Farms parking lot for the 2008 climbing season. So that means for this year at least the access stays the same...

Three cheers for Hugh Dunlop. I'm sure everyone will show the respect due for this generous act.

Hugh agreed to provide access for 2008 until the road up Smythe and parking areas are developed. A ranger I spoke to gave the impression that a camping area wouldn't be out of the question, but for now there's not a whole lot other than a loose, steep drive up the creekbed.

Hey, I'm psyched that you guys are looking out for Skaha out there (I'm a BC native living in Vermont right now)... maybe so I can climb there for a day or two in the first week of July! Send my thanks to this mysterious Hugh guy who obviously is my new found hero. Anyone reliable belayers out that way anymore not minding a random day of climbing with me? :)
