I recently began rock climbing and was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could go to get some training. I have only climbed outside a few times and always with someone experienced or with a group. I have been going to the indoor gym in Indy hoping to meet up with some people, but haven't had much luck. Any info on schools or someone who offers classes would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Probably the best school in the best is Exum Mountain Guides in the Tetons. There is also the san juan mountain guides out west. if you ever get to the adirondaks in northern New York, then Rock and River guide service is great too.
Most guide services are pretty good, but i would recommend that you check to see if the guides are certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) or some other group, or, if they arent certified then why (i think Exum doesn't use the certification but i might be wrong)

Great ideas. Another one would be to skip the gym and keep going out with those experienced friends.

Ditto what WildTrail said. Also, check with your local universities and community colleges. Many offer indoor/outdoor classes covering most aspects of climbing and mountaineering. I don't know what kinda stuff you wanna learn, but that's another possibility.

Don't get lesson's, waste of money.

Meet friends and learn from them.

Thats what I've been doing.

Dont need classes. Be a man and start climbing wif more experinced friends. Going out wif frens not only is more enjoying but its more intense training. When u see ur friends do routes where you failed to complete after seeing them do the route tell urself that u must finish the route before a period of time, Its at least better then a scrumy class where u know that all in the people in class is of same standard as u. Worse still in class u watch ur teacher show-off to everyone.
take my advise learn from experience frens its free.
Rock On
Chris
