Hello! This is my first post on here and I just have a quick question for all you climbers. I have not started climbing because I've been seeking some specific advice. Climbing/mountaineering are two outdoor activities I'm dying to get into. I already ski, hike, and kayak. What's holding me back? Well I'm pretty heavy.. right now I weigh around 185 and I'm 5'8'' although I workout 5-6 times a week and eat VERY healthy. Basically, should I wait to start this climbing adventure until I've reached my goal weight (165) or just jump in now?

If anything, the extra weight to start should make things easier as you lose weight. Focus on using your legs as much as possible and as you start making gains on the wall it will be further motivation to shed the weight.
