I just had a discussion with some fellow climbers about the incidents in Nepal. With all the bombings and guerrilas,103 virgin peaks were open to climbers! Some people say some peaks should stay virgin or untouched. Let me know what you think on this one.

Where did you get your info- "103 peaks..."? I'm just curious, man. For the record, I think peaks are to be CLIMBED, and climbed by competent, environmentally conscientious, responsible, respectful, rockclimbing.com-belongin' people only.

Unless these peaks are considered as places of religious interest, I see no reason why they can't be climbed once permission is granted!

Everest is of HUGE religious interest to some Nepalese and Tibetans, but it continues to be assaulted- so why not rape the rest of the backyard?

Terrorists could use those new peaks as hiding places. They could beam evil signals from the summits. Bush II should immediately sieze them.

mountainrat:

i got the info from www.barrabes.com it was in Spanish and it was posted a couple of weeks ago. I am sure there are other places if you look.... but thats what it said.

I also think mountains are there to climb but only to competent, trained people. Some peaks should remain virgin if they are sacred for them or something though.
