I have been looking around the site, and I find that I have a thirst for knit-pickie knowledge. I haven't climbed very much, so I find that I don't know what some of the gear is. Thanx for your input... ~Keith

crashpads, are for bouldering...large square pads, that have straps, like a backpack...to carry to the crag...place them under were you boulder. simply put. maybe you'll get more technical terms ahead. They're a must, as far as I'm concerned..there are others that dissagree... But, I have more confidence knowing I've got a nice landing, if I fall....spotters(when they're trustworthy ) help too... T btw, no question is a dumb question...ask away.

Also Keith, if you see another phrase that you don't know, try checking the climbing dictionary: http://www.rockclimbing.com/articles/term.php Hope this helps. Mick

Rck_Climber made a reference to the Climbing Terms section earlier and I took a look at it, realized it's missing a lot of terms, and started hacking away at it. I added about 30 terms this afternoon and only got part way through A and B, but I'll keep working on it over the next little while. *edit: Ok, I'm up to E now * [ This Message was edited by: fiend on 2002-01-26 23:35 ]

Crash pads are mats that you land on unpurposly while bouldering. This is to protect your body from damage.
