hey guys i have got a new harness which acording to the manufacturer, black dimond, should fit me, when i put it on and sinch it up it feels snug yet not too tight as to restrict movement or breathing. also i cann't force it down over my hips, but when im coming down the wall a gap between me and my harnesse forms in the front, it seems pretty big, enought to stick my fist almost in it, is it too big? i checked the harness to make sure they hadn't accidnetly sent me the wrong size and it is the right size that is for my waist size. Hey, thats not a problem at all, all harnesses do that. if you wanted a harness that didn't, then you need a harness with a rigid waist belt, and those don't exist. if you're still concerned, get a full body harness, petzl and camp both have good ones.

Farmerc got it. My harness fits snug just above my hip bones. Whenever I'm lowering or rapping it forms a big gap between my tummy and the belay loop. While fitting me like that it has stopped two inverted falls . I trust the way I put it on. As long as it's comfortable and you're not going to fall out of it, wear it.

My harness does the same thing. As long as you can't force it over your hips (or shoulders ) You're fine. The harness, when standing, should be snug enough to just fit your hand between body and it.

Thats sorta happened to me. The only difference was that i was laying down and belaying a friend who was setting a new route at a gym i go to and i noticed about the same size gap. After my friend got off the wall I (while still laying down) refitted the waist belt. It seemed alot easier to get tight and fit alot nicer. so I guess if its freaking you out try laying on you back and tightening your waist belt. It work for me i don't see why it wouldn't for you. That gap is the reason I gave my Petzl size 2 to my bro-in-law and got myself a size 1. Still got the gap on the way down though LOL Peace
