Does anyone know what happened to the original San Juan Mountaineers of the early part of the century (please don't respond with.."they died" hehe)? I'm just starting to research this and would like any info on where to begin. This group was very active and did many of colorado's most difficult ascents in the 20-40's. They are not around anymore and I'm curious as to what happened. As of now, the only group in the area is the CMC's group, but the CMC is no longer the club that it use to be (i.e the first half of the century). I am moving to Durango this winter and would like to find people, like me, who are willing to organize and possibly start the club back up. I would like to start a club that is more about the climbing than a social aspect. There are many new routes that can be done the the San Juans and as a group it will be possible to climb in the greater ranges. Anyone that has info on the club or would be interested in starting something like this up, contact me. Thanks. Ray
