Joshua Tree isn't so much as a tree to be climbed first, as it is a state of mind. Your "Joshua Tree" is a branching chain of options to use when you are climbing. "Should I place in an okay cam here, or toss a hex into that perfectly doubly tapered slot in the crack?" As you go down each path, then you are climbing your Joshua Tree.
Damn, that was deep. But seriously, yeah, I'm sure the Morongo Indians had the FA on many rocks out there. JT was discovered by the white devils looking for gold because quartz monzonite and gold are found in close proximity to each other. If you go to the back of Hound Rock in Quail Springs (a great 10a finger crack back there) you will see this massive plot with bolts in the rock for a huge tent. Either some 1950's climbers hiding out there, or a gold minin' ex-pee-dishun. Either way, it's a sweet place to be. I'll be there in about 16 hours from now. And eventhough I would like to be in the Valley, it will be sweet!!

Don't forget the coyotes, I've seen them on top of some climbs that require tecnical climbing to reach the summit. And they do it free solo with no chalk !!!
