I have been at Mt Arapiles with my uni climbing club for the last week where we had the good fortune of being joined by John Middendorf.
I don't know much about him, but I do know that he wrote the "Big Walls" book in the "How to Rockclimb" series and that Australian hardman "HB" Malcolm Matheson (who joined us for about half an hour to talk to John) said that he had climbed more hard aid than anyone he knew. John also mentioned someone who he called "Big Wall Pete" - is this passthepitonspete?
John was a really nice guy and didn't boast about any of his achievements so I am trying to find out more about them. Any stories would be much appreciated.
