hey guys, im doin a report for school and i was wonering if any1 had info. about climbing or climbers of the 30's or where to get it

You could start with the Whitney Gilman Ridge,Aug.3,1929.They climbed it in many short pitches,and placed no pitons I believe.It was,at the time the most difficult climb in the US.
Also,I think,the Stettner Bros. do their famous motorcycle road trip around then,and bag Stettner's Ledges on Longs Peak.

it will be much easier if you focus only on north america.
for overviews, see chris jones, climbing in north america; waterman and waterman, yankee rock and ice; culp and achey, climb!; and ament, wizards of rock.
if you need to use primary documents, the american alpine club library has digitized the back runs of the american alpine journal. i don't have time to find the link now, but go to the aac library site and you can access it there.

Pushing The Limits - by Chic Scott will give you the overview of things on the Canadian side. It should be fairly easy to drag up info if you start looking. I believe the Alpine Journals for both the Canadian and American Alpine clubs go back atleast that far.
