WHOPOO!!1!!

I'm gonna pack tonight, too excited!

Definitely buying beer and wine (maybe some whisky ... ???) in Idaho.

Gonna be chilly cold. "I can't feel the holds but I don't think I'm gonna fall." Famous last words ...

rocknpowda: less than a week !??!! I got less than two days by my count ... oh wait I guess you can't make it 'til Friday er somethin'?

I'll be chillin' (literally) in site 19 for anybody who doesn't have that info yet.

Coreyr (and anyone else who cares): Most likely we will be climbing at either Parkinglot rock or Elephant Rock on Thursday. I'll still leave a message at the kiosk, but right now I'm leaning towards PL rock on Thurs. and Elephant on Friday.

Anybody: Is Delay of Game as hairy as everybody I've talked to has said so far?

I'll be in the City in approximately 48 hours!

yes delay of game was a nightmare for me...

i was up for the lead that day, i had been climbing so great this past spring and didn't think it would be hard at all...the first move on the side was prolly the crux..i made it without a problem...placed two cams then headed to the first bolt...i traversed left and right to find another bolt, i knew there HAD to be another one b4 the next one i could see that seemed like it was 30 feet above me, but there was not another bolt. Had i not heard a million times that morning about the girl that had just died there, i prolly would have sucked it up and done it...but i was shaking like a leaf and my feet wouldn't move. I came back down and passed the lead to my partner. Then when she successfully made it up and i had to haul up a rope...i fell on the first move and took out my ankle. after a couple minutes i started the climb again. i slowly crawed up that route...hating every
step and in awe of my partner for leading this run out route, that i had bagged...i got about 10 feet from the last bolt and i couldnt move...the rope i had dropped once i got to the second bolt had knotted up and was stuck in a crack about 25 feet up from the base of the rock...i down climbed back to the last bolt and clipped in and just waited and my partner and i just 'baked' on that granite. Finally 20 minutes or so later i heard these guys laughing...i yelled to them that i was stuck and they dropped their gear and ran to the climb and said yup...you are stuck!! two of them climbed the 25 feet to release the knot for me...MY HERO'S!!!! I finally got up to my partner...we tied the ropes together and on the rap down my arm got caught in my atc...the cherry on the top of the whipped cream for me on that climb!! we packed up our stuff and headed back to SLC that day. that climb will always be bad karma for me, and i was really hoping to beat it this time, for i have not recovered from this climb all summer.

but the way it looks...i would be flying into slc on friday morning and the only ride i have been offered would get me to city that evening...thank you pcf-monty!!!

and then i dont have a ride back to slc for a monday flight...i am unable to stay til wednesday as originally planned...so i figure i'd hitch a ride back with someone on sunday. So this leaves me with one and a half days of climbing...i dont see it friends..not that whole way for only a day and a half of climbing, even if it is city.

i waited as long as possible to try to get things figured out...you have no idea how much i wanted to meet elvis, philly, sheeba, and the two coreys...but i just can't see using these tickets for such a short visit.

i will be there in spirit with all of you. hehe...whether you want that spirit or not.

gabe...dang i was looking forward to climbing delay and too much fun with you!!!

tony...ditto

and john..i don't even have to say it.

trevor...dang it.

pete..i was really psyched about finally climbing with you too...seems like all those visits to the bird and i can only hook up with you at your office...

michael...i wanted that private climb on the sisters, for i have dreamed about it for months.

bill...i wanted to climb with you too this trip!!

as hard as a decision this has been...i will try to make the best of it...and i think i will head out to the gunks this weekend and save this ticket for a trip to yosemite, when i have more time for a vacation.

i know you all will have a wonderful trip!!!

be safe, climb hard and drink a beer for me and biggernhell O.K????

i will be anxiously awaiting the trip report, jealous as hell for all of you attending. i understand now, how hard this post was for biggernhell....

Yea, wife, 15 year old daughter and possibly my 18 and 20 year old son's - ya never can tell with these youngsters - but wife and daughter for sure.

Apparently the Old Homestead (bed and breakfast) has 3 rooms, a queen bed in one, and the other two have a twin bed.

No heat but they said they would have the fire burning when I got there (hopefully around 6:00pm on Friday night)

PS, I have the whole place Friday and Saturday nights - I'm headed home Sunday also.

The closest place that sells beer (Oakley or Connor Creek) is about 25 minutes away (out of the way, if you are coming from UT) so keep this in mind when planning on buying beer and such on the way.

Anne - bummer, I guess I'll see you next time around.

Pete - do you have a plan about where you are going to stop and grab alcohol? It would just be wrong to bring Utah beer into Idaho. That would throw evolution back so far I don't even want to get started.

Spanking !?

What have I gotten myself into with this trip?

Anne, if there is still hope, then get yer bootie out West and let's do this thing!

In other news, here is my final weather report before I jump in my car and go:

Thu
Oct 03 Partly Cloudy 47°/35° 20 %
Fri
Oct 04 Rain / Snow Showers 44°/33° 40 %
Sat
Oct 05 Mostly Sunny 58°/30° 10 %
Sun
Oct 06 Mostly Sunny 59°/35° 10 %

Yeah, that's not a typo, it does say Snow Showers on Friday. I'll definitely be grabbing the whisky after all. Whisky n' coffee ... mmmmm. But then Saturday and Sunday look much better.

Well, I'm all packed and ready to go. See you all there!

-Tony

I just called the COR office and it is now too late to reserve sites for Friday or earlier but they said there are definitely sites open in the lower and upper City. We should all shoot for the Lower City so we can all keep each other up all night.

Hey - Just for all you sporto types out there, there is a great 5.7 sport climb on the back of the wall that Tribal Boundaries is on - I forget the formation, but it is two pitches a nd well bolted. It actually will finish right up near the top of the tribal anchor and you could rap that pitch if no boby was on it - unlikely - . Great - safe - fun two pitcher - and also - for all you about to slog out to do Cruel shoes - 5.7 - three pitches - 31 bolts - Don't rap the route - walk off or rap the back side in one rap -150' - look for hte bolts over the top on the back side.. Rapping the route will put you right on top of the other 700 people doing the route each day (it's that good) Enjoy- wish I could go
