Haha, atg, you're younger than all us folks considering it.

I figure:

Hike in - 3.5 hrs
Get to base, gear up - .5 hrs
Climb 9 pitches to summit - 4 hrs
Scramble down - 1.5 hours
Hike out - 4 hrs

I can "take" one peer along. Two is a possibility, but it would make for a longer day. (hard to simulclimb) It looks like augrach is quite a bit more qualified than I, so maybe he would volunteer to "lead" another rope.

More than four people and I'd start to doubt the odds for safety and success and rather do something like Shooting Star on James Peak.

I don't know bout qualified, but I can "lead" another rope. I'm also a bit uncomfortable about large groups, to much to go wrong.

I hadn't considered doing the route in a day. Seems fairly feasible, only 2200 feet of evelevation gain over 8 miles on the trail. It can't be any worse than climbing the Grand in a day.

What's the date again? If I say I'm in I'll sign in blood or ketchup or motor oil or something.

If L.E.P. is interesting enough by itself, maybe we should get a permit, camp and bag it AND the Mohling traverse. (near the top of my tick list; must be willing to do VERY exposed soloing)

But not on the same weekend as Martha's gathering; else it wouldn't be much of a gathering, eh?

i'd be psyched for that on a non gathering weekend. i could probably totter down the approach trail and do the route the next day.

I am up for it too. I'll even get up early and do it in a day with somebody. Tracyroach has been trying to drag me up there for awhile. I have found that resistance is futile.

*Sean eyes trad rack, snow pickets, and (gasp) teles, sitting in the corner covered in DUST*

*Sean eyes still smoking circular saw covered in sawdust*

As you all might have figured, I'd love to come if I can finish the house and save some vacation time. June should be good timing. I'll try my damdest. Sounds like more fun than I deserve! Here's hoping.

P.S. Nice beer choice there Andrew. Ever tried Big Sky's Scapegoat Pale? Good stuff as well.

Sherwood forest!? Hmmm if you're all lucky maybe I'll do my version of "Men In Tights". All depends on how much I drink I suppose.

"We are meeeeeeeeennn, men in tights!"

nothing's a little too odd for me! i might even admire you while you're admiring me admiring someone else. elvis never answered the soccer question, though.

oh, and, we should probably plot something for dear ol' andrew since he's always trying to act like an old grump at the ripe old age of 25. let's plan here and delete all evidence before he gets back from SA .. hee hee.

The traverse would, I think, require an overnighter for all but mtn-100 miles a day-geo level hardmen. (not I will you see doing it trailhead to trailhead in a day)

Theres another picture of the traverse in Alpinist 1, with a climber soloing along it.

Wild!

Brad, it seems you've got more than enough partners to handle, but let me know if you come up short.
And if anyone else is looking for an experienced multipitch trad partner for something big and cool--I'm in! I promise not to drop any giant rocks...
Alternatively, I would be happy to do the leading up something like the north ridge of spearhead or something like that.
And thanks Skibbaagee for setting this up!

Whoa, this site just has a life of it's own.
allow me to address some topics in this thread:

Running Sports- yeah, soccer, and lots of uphill climbing on skis, but believe me I still have what my little brother calls a "Ghetto Booty". (stupid brother!)

Tights- You will have to settle for expedition weight capaline. Warmer than tights, but makes for a very awkward song title.

As for being admired- that is VERY laughable. As is me dancing at all.

This thread in general- My wife would slap me upside the head if she knew about all these shananagins. But she doesn't know.

All You People- are alot of fun.

Later

We'll see about her, she is still very new to climbing, you all might scare her off.

...Harmless? Pshaw! How could she NOT be threatened by the two of you.

Edited to add: Only kidding, my wife trusts me... most of the time.
