I am already looking for a place to head during my time off for spring break next year and am considering going back to the east coast (WV, VA, NC, whereever) and get in as much climbing at different areas as possible. Dates are 8-16 March, inclusive and if you are interested in getting something going post here or PM me.

AAAUUUGHHHHH!!!!!!!

I just talked to my husband and spring is out for us. Apparently tax time's going to eat us alive, since we have to pay back into our retirement plan (we borrowed from it to buy a house).

Ptooey.

As others have said Pa. and Wv. are a crap shoot at best in March. I usually try to go on a spring break climbing trip and I have found that the new is warmer sooner than seneca. I went to nrg very late march and although it was cold we climbed. The weather for the next day was snow and rain so I left. The best place I have found for beating sping has been Nc. Pilot mountain North Carolina is near Winston-Salem and mnt. Airy. Thats about 9 hrs. for me. Pilot mnt. is a south facing wall. It is mostly top roping, but close by is Saurtown(sport) and Moores Wall(trad). Might be some bolts at Moores too and there is some trad anywhere there is rock. I think there is another area close by also. Pilot mnt. has camping.

Hey, I 'm up for anywhere!! March is iffy in WV and RRG but not to bad. If you go to the NEW there's a couple of places you can climb if it rains. The Seneca area can be good in march but to echo Bill, it is warmer at the New, Not Sure about RRG.

NC or Tenneese is an option also.

It really doesn't matter to me where we climb as long as we can do some climbing. I'll defer to the wisdom of those back east to decide where is best. The driving for me won't be much different wherever we meet.

I think Linville Gorge would be an awesome place for this. There is climbing of all levels available and some really great scenery too!!!

Someone mentioned the iffy weather, and indeed, that first week or so of March can be nice or horrendous, depending on the year. There are a lot of options, though. the New is great, RRG is too. N.Carolina is as good as it gets in the south. Linville might still be a little chilly then but Looking Glass is a good choice. TWall is a sun baked solar collector and it's usually perfect in March if it ain't raining. Of course, there are all those satellite crags in Chattanooga, both sport and trad.

Time to get everyone serious about this gathering. Anne is starting to work on possibly NRP but we need to have folks tell us what they can or want to do. I will be arriving in Atlanta late on Saturday, the 8th of March. From there on it is up to you easters to let me know what you want to do. I am game for whatever (as long as it isn't too illegal! ). Go ahead and put your idea up now so we can make arrangements!

I would probably go March 14-16, especially if it was Linville Gorge or somewhere else with easy trad climbing.

I'm hearing alot of concerns about weather in the southeast this time of year, and all of them are accurate. It can be very wet here. But, if you want the BEST combination of easy to moderate sport climbing with the most routes that stay dry in rain. the Red River Gorge is your best bet. I've climbed there in downpours and still hit many of the best routes. There are also an abundance of extremely classic 12+ routes that stay very dry. FYI. Of course, you will want to gather and stay at Miguel's. Get something going and I'm there.
