I don't think we'll see any rattlesnakes. If it gets really warm, they might come out in the sun, but they'll be sluggish. A note about bears, however - they are around and will be out and about if the weather is decent. They have always been shy and well-behaved. That's because we've never left food or garbage around for them to get into! Please keep this in mind when you're at the cabins.

Last I heard from Grant (I think he's still in Alberta ice climbing right now, the bastard), he was going to try to make it down for a weekend. He's almost out of vacation days for this year (already), so he can't come down for any longer than that. If I recall correctly, he was going to try for Weekend #1, but you'd have to hear it from him to know the real deal. k.

Looks like some more settled weather arriving toward the end of this week. Keep your fingers crossed. One cool thing about the fin-like rock formations we'll be looking to climb on is that they dry very fast. I might have posted this before, but we say that if the roads are dry, the rock is dry enough to climb on. As long as we get some sun, we'll be climbing, even if there's snow on the ground. http://www.nelsonrocks.org/...tos/nrp-cresendo.jpg

In an effort to see some southern friends and soak up some sun on sandstone, hoppin, bishop, ejlim and orange will be continuing south on 81 past the exit for Nelson, toward Chatty, home of TWall and Fosters. In light of the current and forecasted weather, and my ability to get out of work, it just makes sense for this mini-crew to look south. We hope to make it to NRP this spring or summer. Wishing the best of luck for a safe, fun gathering for all (and limited property damage for the ooze). o.k.

Dude, I'll bug out if I saw even one snake. I loathe the things, anything that can move faster than me without arms or legs must be a freak of nature. Want to see me free solo /flash a 5.14d go 'head put one at my feet........Thank goodness for the showers, that's a lot of water to boil on a pocket rocket ??!! BE NICE TO ME I'M ONLY LITTLE !

Just got back from the Rockies yesterday and what a trip, climbed 7 of the 8 days and ache like a sonofabitch now. Quite a few highlights to compensate though such as coming back to the condo to toasts of 151% rum, seeing a plum route from the rooftop hot tub, or knowing that there is soooo much more to be done. Yes I should be there the first weekend for two days of climbing before bugging back for the border although if Jess decides to do the trip with me, I may not be falling asleep at the wheel. She was considering it before I headed to the Rockies but may need some more convincing  Katy: Chill lass, don't be so bitter. If it makes you feel any better....erm .... I had an awful time really in Alberta. Those approaches make Tiffany Falls seem a short stroll :? Ben: Are you the guy I saw in Oozes truck when you first arrived in NRP, I was driving the Saturn as I headed out. I'm not surprised they got you into the RC.cult...I mean RC.com family  I'm looking forward to seeing some old faces and also to meeting some of the new faces on old usernames.

That's awesome, Grant! Glad you can make it. Here's a route you can do just a few steps from the camp fire: The Northeast Face of Dead Hickory, aka the Amish Route (A4). Put up by captainprozac last year, the FA used only hand-made wooden pegs for protection, driven with a wooden mallet (hanging below climber). Hence the name. http://www.nelsonrocks.org/userphotos/amish.jpg
