Hey all, just wanted to link this to a topic. Climbsomething had the great (and long overdue ) idea of having a RC.com meeting in AZ and the response has been OVERWHELMING! Click here for a list of attendees so far. Here are the dates: SEPT. 27th-29th in Flagstaff, Arizona. Climbing in Paradise Forks, for trad, The Pit for sport, Priest Draw for bouldering. YEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!! ~Erica [ This Message was edited by: climberchic on 2002-09-24 06:55 ]

Hey rock_diva! I'm sure as the time gets closer, we'll start organizing airport pickups and people can hook up on their own for a hotel or house to crash at if they don't want to camp. As for who is organizing, climbsomething started this whole fiasco in the first place and I put up the list, but I'd be happy to help as well. Maybe you could find out all of the sordid details about the camping situation (assuming it'll be open by then) at P-Forks (how many can we fit in a site, how many sites, how much $$) and post it. Thanks Shel! ~Erica

i try and get to the crag early. carefully tape up, chalk up, rub some dirt on my shorts, sit and grab the start holds of some hard problem. all before anyone shows up. by 10am i just limp around spraying about how many moves i got into (insert hard problem name here) go to cooler and crack a beer and limp around all afternoon swilling on beers, for medicinal purposes only of course.

Hi Doki This is a fixed date on one condition. Currently, we have full forest closures throughout the state due to severe drought causing extreme fire hazards including the areas in Flagstaff where the gathering is located. About 95% of our climbing areas are currently closed. Our monsoon season, however has just started and we have been getting isolated thunderstorms. Not enough to open the forests, yet, but it looks promising. I would hold off on buying a ticket until they open up Coconino National Forest again. You can go here for forest closure updates. You could chance it and buy a ticket, and there is a very good chance that the forest will be open by Sept. But if not, you can always be entertained by my shadow puppet cabaret, which I happen to think is pure genius. It's even made grown men cry. As I don't regularaly check these pages, please PM me with any urgent questions you may have about the gathering. Thanks ~Erica

Shadow puppet cabaret Erica? Were the grown men crying because you would'nt stop or because it was just too funny. You'll have to show me sometime. This I have to see.
