You'll find that pretty much all of the gyms are kid friendly, at least the ones I frequent are (Paradise Rock Gym, Rock'n and Jam'n, and The Spot). There's LOTS of bouldering in Castlewood, not to mention Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder- those are my two favorite areas, anyway. See you there! :)

I just printed out the topo of the park. So where are you guys meeting? There's Westside Trailhead, Canyon Point, and Juniper Rock. Which would be the closest?

Looks like we'll have a good group tomorrow. looking forward to it. If any non-kid-toting types would also like to join us please come along. If you are unsure of how to get to the Canyon, or the meeting location, or want to try to hop in with someone who has a state parks pass, a group of us will be meeting at the Rockyard Brewery parking lot in Castlerock at 9am. To get there, get off southbound I-25 at exit 184 by the outlet mall, go right at the top of the exit, then left (south) at the next light by the Loaf'n Jug on to Castleton Road, you'll see the brewery up on the hill. I drive a Gray Land Cruiser (OK it's really a Lexus, don't give me any schit). I think it'll be a good time, hope to see you all there. If anyone would like to reach me, my cell is 720-839-8827.

Hey, I don't have any kids or wife or anything, but I read this post anyways. I am meeting my family in Colorado this weekend to go backpacking, so I think we will be meeting at castlewood. I have a bunch of young brothers who would be great rock climbiers if they didn't live in Houston and just play video games. I am hoping this gathering will help inspire them to take the sport seriously. I look forward to meeting some of you. Sounds like fun and I'll see you tomorrow. I drive a blue low rider piece of junk Riviera with Montana plates. My parents drive a gold Nissan Quest minivan with texas plates, my brother will be in a small pickup with a canvas camper top (both with Texas plates).

phaedrus, 9:00 sounds fine thanks for the directions. I've never been there before but I usually don't have a problem finding places. See you there. :D

I have a white '99 GMC Jimmy with a big ol' Petzl sticker on the back window, along with stickers for the Air Force (my son), Navy (former student) and Army (me), and a few others, including Batman and Superman shields. It'll be kind of hard to miss.

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday. Kyle and I really enjoyed ourselves, and as I said a couple of times during the day, it was good to know that certain things aren't isolated to my own kids! I definitely would like to do this again. :) Todd

Best kid quote of the day: "My tongue accidentally touched the berry!" (Someone tries to taste the unknown green berries growing in the underbrush, despite being warned not to.)

If Kyle asks. . .I didn't say a word. Yeah, this was fun. We should do it again. There was a kids climbing community that was run by a friend of mine who has since moved to Ouray. The group was pretty big. I think I may start it back up again. We had quarterly meetings, a website with all of our contact info, informal get togethers. . .it was a success. I'll post a thread here just to get a feel for who might be interested. Oh and Todd and Vincent. . .if you guys could PM me your numbers for future reference, that would be great. I lost my wallett on Saturday evening (AGAIN!!!!) so I don't have your numbers anymore.

Heh... yep... got it back from the rugrat. :) Wondered what happened on Sunday... ended up taking my student up to Boulder Canyon and taught him how to do his first sport lead, so we had a good day anyway. And Tracy... I noticed you never did answer Kyle's question about your first kiss vs. Alec's. (Speaking of favorite quote of the day....) So who ended up with my BD Airlocks anyway? I knew I was forgetting something. :)

Todd. . .when I was setting up that anchor, you passed me 2 biners, remember? Then Tim was up there re-configuring the anchor. I think Vincent tore it down. So your biners are probably on Aaron's rack since it was his webbing that we were using to secure the anchor. I'd PM him to see. Or, I'd check with Vincent since he cleaned the anchors for us before we moved to the banana area. Just tell Kyle that I had my first kiss when I was 21. hehe

In reply to: Best kid quote of the day: "My tongue accidentally touched the berry!" (Someone tries to taste the unknown green berries growing in the underbrush, despite being warned not to.) HAHAHA!!!! You should have heard what he said yesterday!! As we were cruising back from Shelf, there is this one hilly stretch of the road that leaves your tummy feeling like it bottoms out if you hit it right. We knew it was coming so Alec tells Randy to speed up. Randy did. Everyone laughed. Then Alec says. . ."Do that again! That tickles my winkey!!!!" I think I'm gonna have my hands full with this one!!
