Rain
In monsoon-like waves... a hint of breaking clouds, followed by a barrage of cold water, occasionally mixed with ice. Winds between 10 and 15 mph, gusting to 40 mph earlier in the day... higher on the Via Ferrata, I'm sure. Glad it's getting all of this out of its system before the Fest (keeping his fingers crossed).
What a change after the spectacular days we had Saturday and Sunday... perfect bouldering weather, and I got to picnic with my folks at the new Seneca Rocks Discovery Center. Very swanky...
Not many climbers up on the East side; despite plenty of sun, the temps were down in the 30s and lower 40s, and the winds were steady. Only old-school Seneca lovers (read: trad-rooted mental cases... myself, for instance) willingly go up in such weather (as opposed to being dragged by an insistant SO/partner/legally binding contract,etc). Apparently, they were all somewhere else cragging on Saturday... Cranklin, most likely, judging from the number of cars and suspended bodies I saw from 33W.
Ran out through Petersburg but missed Topper... went exploring about an hour north of there and remembered why some of the happiest climbers in the world live in West Virginia... so much rock, so little time...
Sunday eventually cleared after a cloudy morning, and I crossed the Wv line a bit further south, dropping in to visit some boulders a ways off the beaten path between Covington and Buffalo Gap. The stone was dry and the landings clear for a fun afternoon of crankin', before rolling all the way back to Ricmond to begin the work week.
Bad news on our tent timbers/supports, Anne... they went offsite with a truckload of equipment while I was gone over the weekend.... the lowlives stole them right out from under my trailer... along with three tarps, twenty steel stakes, and about 400 feet of cable and rope. Pretty much my entire contribution to the tent, gone in a swipe. Pretty shistty homecoming after a great weekend....
Still trying to get the job caught up enough to do more than stay the weekends, but this rain just cost me another three days....I feel like Alice in Through the Looking Glass; running as hard as I can to stay in one place...

Hey you guys,
I am coming with mick and george from OH, and Kennard from WV. I was wondering if anyone else besides me plays guitar and is willing to sing around the fire. Also does anyone think I should bring my guitar so I can sing around the fire? I am a decent player, mostly cords though, and an ok voice. Just want to know what the consensus is. I don't want to offend or irritate anyone by playin a guitar on a peaceful night.
Let me know what you guys think
