Well, we're close. Sort of. I'm leaving tomorrow at 1400 for the weekend festiviites (talk about starting early, hunh?), and planning to pick up jeffers_mz at Neptune at 4. Starting out at the Flagstaff trash bash, and then two days of alpine and cragging prior to seeing ya'll up there Friday night. Depending on what we're doing on Friday, we may be there when you get there, and we may not. I think that whomever gets there first should be able to pick up a key to the cabin - it's in skibby's name, or in mine. I don't have a planned partner or itinerary for the weekend climbs - if anyone wants/needs someone to climb with, Jeff and I are both free, I believe. Jeff was talking about Kiener's with Martha one day. I'm up for whatever. The toys are all in the car - a shuttle-vehicle plan with a run up to the Petit or Zowie, followed by a ridgerun back to the cabin might be fun if someone's interested in a looooong, probably painful day. I'm definitely open to some suggestions. Anyone? Jeff and I will still be able to get mail until tomorrow night, then it's see-ya-there for us. See ya there.

i'll be coming up friday night and staying through sunday afternoon. i'm pretty beat up after a big whipper in the desert over the weekend, so i'll probably just be cragging at lumpy or something like that.

Skibby, Did you already post info about the cabin (location, etc.)? My dial-up connection is too damn slow (or is it I'M too LAZY) to look thru the pages. Hope my bruises from my last climb heal before this weekend. Ouch. This should be fun! -k.

james -- sorry to hear that; i was looking forward to getting the age-old rotor- versus fixed-wing rivalry going full throttle. you know: the old helicopter [b:8e76aadbd7]pilot[/b:8e76aadbd7] -vs- airplane [b:8e76aadbd7]driver[/b:8e76aadbd7] thing? next time. at least you'll be able to bask in the cosmopolitan glory that is okc. and, as for your username ... if you were a 'copter pilot you wouldn't HAVE any stinkin' mins! may you have vfr on top, and may your takeoffs equal your landings ... sierra hotel, over.

Everyone enjoy yourselves this weekend, climb hard, be safe, and make certain you totally pig out on Skibby's cooking. Sorry I can't attend. But as luck would have it, hurricane Isabel is tracking straight for the cultural epicenter of the east coast climbing community -- the New River Gorge. With a little luck, the storm will have lost its punch by the time I (hopefully) start climbing on Sunday. Or maybe it will at least keep the resident cast and extras from "Deliverance" at home in their double-wides. So Geo -- After a few weekends of chasing over-bolted, over-rated, where's-my-Perrier-and-stick-clip, sport-o routes, will you have the stones to actually place a hex (aka "3-dimensional thingy") and run it out, oh maybe, 5 or 6 feet? Of this I want pictures! Doooood.

I kinda found out where the free camping is. I can show whoever needs it. If the cabin is full I will probably just stay at the Aspenglen campground. $18 per night still. I don't have a partner nailed down. If someone needs a 5.7 leader or an up to 10b follower let me know. I mostly just want to crag at Lumpy. Is anyone bringing a guide for the areas?

Sierra Hotel DE Juliet Delta, If I had attended we would have certainly discussed the whole "Jesus Nut" thing. I guess it isn't much different than a rap anchor now is it? Hmmm :) Actually - the reason I'm flying is because in the beginning I wanted to be a Helo guy...believe it or not. I was an EMT(in training) and a basic Firefighter when I was accepted to college. I had desired to be involved in search and rescue either on the ground or in the air...but that is how I ended up in the career field anyway. The dreams of being Med-Evac. :) Stay in touch and maybe we can go hit a crag sometime. Have a great one! JD

In reply to: M'kay, all, here's the werd: Menu includes a pasta feed (both veggie and not), salad, and garlic bread, and if I have time I'll make my superb chocolate chip cookies. Skibby: Tried to do this in PM, but my puter is having issues.... Italian food? Bene... Wanna get married? :D I'll bring the wine... need to know if you want red, white, or both. Do you trust me to pick the varietal? This is sounding better and better... I'm SO glad I've got weekends off now.

Yeah, I had to double bag it last night. Two sleeping bags that is. All of the high peaks are snow covered. Lumpy still looks sweet though.

In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: I'll probably also have Italian sausage on the side for those who really like their meat! must ... not ... comment ... Yeah, you won't want me to bring up the subject of "Three Inches of Dangling Fury....." Let's see...the forecast is for chilly temps & possible snow. Me thinks weather induced shrinkage will mean three inches will be optimistic.
