YAY! Sounds like fun but I don't know how to ski. :-( Went boarding once last year and fell 1,000 times but had a great time anyway. The weather last winter was so mild that I climbed most weekends. Will Copper be open then? I didn't see any snow up there last week. Might be a good time to get another lesson! Even if I can't ski, I'd travel to wish you a happy b-day and to chow down on you're yummy cooking!

I'm sorry, the BBMM is on Saturday and I'm committed. Depending on how badly it destroys my pathetic, scrawny little wanna-be body, ... no, I can't even say that. There's just no way. Looking forward to the skitour loop from Berthoud back to Tabernash, though, when there's some consolidated white stuff! kelly

Martha, What, no corn maze!?! Just kidding. Your idea sounds great. I am ready to climb, and hit the slopes at Copper. I just bought my season pass and new tele skis, so I am ready to go.

Sorry hon, I must have missed it...how many candles did you say we should hang on that cake? Alas, I'm going to have to offer my birthday greetings from afar, but I hope you have a great one, and if anyone get pix of you blowing out said conflagration, I want copies.

What stone do you want to hit on the day? Weather permitting I suppose. Maybe this kick ass sun will hold out a few more weeks. Heh.

Skibster -- Happy 33rd birthday! Doo-oo-ood-ette. Count me in, I think, maybe, probably. But we AARP-members-in-training request some special considerations in order for our aging, decrepit bodies to survive two full days (forget this up at the crack of noon garbage) of climbing and skiing: 1. A partner or two able to limit their alcohol consumption to the Exxon Valdez's capacity. 2. A relatively quiet place to crash while the young-uns wreak irreparable harm to brain and liver cells until 4am. 3. A partner or two who understand that rope drop (aka 8:30 in the am) is sacred event not to be missed. Alright, enough for the soap box. Let's hope for the appropriate weather for all events. Crank down the boots, strap on the helmet, lower the goggles, and get the #*&$!! out of the way -- the Atomic Herminators will be tuned and ready to roll. Now if I can just figure out how to get my walker on the chair lift and to wear the Depends under the speed suit without showing those revealing lines.

In reply to: I've just had my Volants waxed and tuned......have an excuse to keep falling down! Oh yah, zah Herminator (wanna-be) sees a problem. You are not skiing on zah proper burly-gurl skis, und it eez making you fall like a vimpy French, Italian, or evun American skier. Hear me now. Zah Herminator (wanna-be) vill pump you up on real lumber from zah fatherland. Something which will turn only when you flex your burly muscles, und crush zah snow into submission. Vee vill start your training immediately with 400 leg presses und sit ups. Then vee vill haff a quick snack of beer und bratwurst, und start it all over again. Und you vill change your to name to something worthy of a twue alpine skier -- maybe Helga, Olga, or Ulrika. I feel so pumped up already. Maybe I vill call Ahhnold, und haff him join us on zah snow. Yah.

In reply to: to get a spank on the butt for every year I've lived I take this to mean that Martha wants a spanking... I'm in, and the line starts here.
In reply to: Count me in, I think, maybe, probably. But we AARP-members-in-training request some special considerations in order for our aging, decrepit bodies to survive two full days (forget this up at the crack of noon garbage) of climbing and skiing: 1. A partner or two able to limit their alcohol consumption to the Exxon Valdez's capacity. So, we're talking a gallon or so, right?
In reply to: 2. A relatively quiet place to crash while the young-uns wreak irreparable harm to brain and liver cells until 4am. What are brain cells? Better yet, what's a liver?
In reply to: Crank down the boots, strap on the helmet, lower the goggles, and get the #*&$!! out of the way -- the Atomic Herminators will be tuned and ready to roll. Now if I can just figure out how to get my walker on the chair lift and to wear the Depends under the speed suit without showing those revealing lines. Geritol shooters for everyone, lemon and salt optional.
In reply to: i'll be there with bells on! And nothing else, right? Assuming I have that weekend off, I'm in. I only have downhill skis, and I haven't used them in 6 years (living in Georgia SUCKS!) Will this be a problem? If needed, I'll sit in the house and "guard" the booze while y'all ski. It's a sacrifice, but one I'm willing to make.

Martha, Just one correction. I am not a tele freak (yet). I am a snowboarder and cross country skier that just bought tele skis. The skis look really cool, but I will only look cool when I am standing with them over my shoulder. The minute they are strapped to my feet, my complete lack of skill will be very evident. If there is snow, and Geo will give us a lesson, you can practice with me. I am sure I will provide great entertainment. Otherwise, I am just bringing my snowboard, and I show you all how to drag some knuckles. I wholehearted agree with Shorty’s special requests. If everyone else really wants to cut loose again, I guess Shorty and I will be climbing together. Please save me a space to sleep in the Geriatric ward.

Here's more bad news... My schedule got switched, and I have to work at 0600 until 1600 on the 1st and 2nd. So I have to bail for this event (or is it "deproach?") Sorry, y'all. Martha, I'll send you a voucher for a spanking. Redeemable any time the following year. Y'all have fun while I'm working.
