GRRR!!!!!   last year didnt your wife make you go to the rumney gathering and then you went home early anyway? I was there all day Friday, Sat., and Sun.... I didn't stay Monday the year before either. What's your point? 8^) Tai.... Maybe. But I'm not from PA and not sure I'd even want to pretend.

I've always been too far away to get to rumney gatherings.... I'm going to do my best to make it up since rumney is all of about 3 hours from me now that I'm a New Englander again, I can't really say no..... but I was making plans to head to DC and visit pals that weekend. With the gas prices the 3 hours will beat out the 7 hours any day, so I'm a definate maybe :) I'll know better as time draws closer, but am all for the field, and making a donation to said field owners. :D

Tai, no. I still have it but may save it for a trip next year when my skills are not so weak. Wasting a trip to the Gunks now seems wasteful, having only climbed 4 days ALL season.

Chad, I'm very disappointed you won't be at either of these. I was looking forward to meeting you and climbing with you. I was looking forward to getting 1/4 of a ton on the same rope with 2 guys. Guess now I'll have to climb with Abi and Kimmy. Won't be any records set in that group, unless it's the amount of time it takes me to belay them. Remember the gunks is closer to you than me. Maybe next year, but I hope to loose some weight. I climb almost every week sometimes 3 days in a week, and I'm no better than I was three years ago.

OK, as I just told Tai in a PM I'm gonna try real hard for the Gunks. The deal breaker will be if I don't have my downstairs apartment rented by then, or at least under agreement. If it's still empty then, then I'll have to spend that weekend showing it. Gunks WOULD be fun....

Been battling the size police with my pics of the campground. Finally got them down to under 48K and will post them as soon as they give the OK. I agree that it'll be different with Jules not there, but lets not let the spirit of these Rumney Gatherings dwindle to nothing ... it can still be a great time. It's up to us to keep it going, and I don't think Jules would like it if we let the fire go out while she was away. Keep in mind that this is not to replace her gatherings, just a different place for this year. Alan

I am 4 it! My tent's footprint isn't much bigger than my size 13s, so your mowing duties won't be over-extended, Alan! backclipped, I may take you up on your offer to carpool from Maine, as I'm in Augusta. I'll PM you sometime closer to work out the details.

Here are the directions to colleens place. From Rumney's parking lot (and surrounding area): Turn left on Buffalo Road At Stinson Lake Road, turn Right At Rt 25, turn Right (North) and go for 4.2 miles Turn Left onto Rt 118 Follow 118 for 11.1 miles where you will start to see signs at the Stevens Road turn off. Turn Left on Stevens Road and go for .8 miles and Colleens house will be on the left, after the Quonset Hut. From West or form Interstate 89: Take Exit 17 (Rt 4) and go East toward Enfield - Canaan - 16 miles When you reach the center of Canaan, right after the only blinking yellow light, turn Left onto Rt 118. Go 4.1 miles and the turn onto Stevens Road, which is on the Left and is a hair-pin type of turn. Straight to Colleens house. Here are the pictures of where the tents can be set up. Here is the left side ... http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=59664 Toward the center ... http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=59667 and ... http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=59665 and this is the right side where the cooking and bonfire will be ... http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=59666 Hope to see everyone there. In case anyone is wondering, there is another field not shown for the over flow (if any), Alan

Get your butt up to Acadia and do some climbing with me beforehand. Jammer made the long haul two weekends ago...the weather didn't quite cooperate though. I despise Murphy and his damn law.

Just a little over a month to go! Since this thread has been in moth-balls for awhile, I thought I'd pop it up on the front page to try and spark interest once again. If you are still planning on comming, I'd appreciate a PM. This way, I can ensure that I get everything necessary and enough of it. Thanks, Alan

BUMP....is anyone going up to this from the PA area? I need a ride up for me and my gear, but don't need one back down. Even if you are passing through on the way from further south or if I can meet you in NJ/NY somewhere (preferably if it's not too far out of the way of my drive from the Gunks down 87/287 as that will be the way I'm coming home) please PM me! Will gladly supply some gas money and refreshing beverages for your troubles! Thx! K.

I think I have a ride lined up with Mel and Erik on Thursday. I will be leaving Rumney Sunday morning and heading to North Conway for the beginning part of the week. After that I am headed down to the Gunxx for the remainder of the week and for the gathering the following weekend. I heart climbing!! I can't wait to meet yall! K.
