In reply to: need a place where I can rest my head w/out getting accosted by rangers in the middle of the night. Tracy, there are other threads discussing the RR camping (one very recent). Some people say it's OK, others aren't so complimentary. If you weren't so close to the dates of the Rendezvous, it would be much easier to find reasonably-priced hotels. Unfortunately, Expedia.com doesn't show too many options. Maybe other websites are better. Anyway, you could hang at the Venetian at $400 a night (or less if you're on their high roller list  ). The cheapest listed option is the Nevada Hotel, in the old downtown section near the Golden Nugget, 2 stars out of 5, for $60 a nite -- but don't expect Venetian-style services or comfort. One other "option" at $145 a nite is.... (drum roll, please, you thilly goose)....Blue Moon Gay Resort. According to Expedia they cater to gay men. Don't know what special ammenities that might include. Actually, don't even care to know. No really, I don't even give a rat's a$$ about the place. But on second thought, rats and a$$ just might be part of the program. Even with your washboard abs and other "assets", I suspect this is one place where the men might leave you alone -- should that even be part of your plans for the weekend. I know, you can thank me later for this tidbit of information.

Camping in Vegas is disappointing in respect to the world class climbing, and world class accomodations that can be found 15 miles away. There are usaully many great deals such as Arizona Charlie's for $20/night, but this time of year: Spring break & NCAA Basketball, coupled with NASCAR and other events, and rooms are $$$$ and hard to come by if they are anywhere close to cheap. March is by far THE busiest month at Red Rock as well. There is dispersal camping on BLM land that is not part of the Red Rock Conservation area, but it can be inconveniently far from the loop road entrance. Perhaps I can be convinced to get in an grab a site for folks, being that I live 2 minutes from the campground. Keep me posted if I can help.

Sorry for the late reply...just heard about this thing. Looks like I'll be heading up for the RRR. Dunna have time to read through the 12 threads, but does anyone know what the camping situation is? I'll have 4 or 5 with me and we can get a hotel if the campgrounds are filled up, but never been to RR, so uneducated to how much room there actually is... Any advice would be appreciated. I thankya kindly in advance. ;)

As you probably know, the group campsite is full, but they have 71 'individual' campsites that will hold up to 10 people. These are first-come first-serve. They're expecting a big crowd that weekend, but if you arrive by noon or so your chances aren't horrible, at least that's what I heard. Here's the website for the campground: http://www.redrockcanyon.blm.gov/Activities/camping.asp I hope that helps.

I am soooo in on that action. I plan to have at least 2-3 at most 6-7 with me. I can let you know the exact # when I do. We are coming from Phoenix and won't be coming in until late Friday night. If you could secure an individual site, we'd be happy to split the costs. ~Erica

In reply to: Daisuke's going. Seeing as how I am forcing him. ummm.... isn't he in santiago, chile? i almost climbed with him there last november.... oh, and if rc.commers need a place (ie. "campsite," and no, there is no hot tub :( ) to connect before/during/after the rendezvous I can nominate my own... i'll be at 13-mile campground for a couple weeks anyway. look for the rei half-dome two tent (two person, cream fly/green tent) and a bottle of jim beam on the picnic table. come say hi (starting the night after tomorrow! whoo!)...
